Our History

The Mission Preparatory School opened in August 2011 with 50 Kindergarten students. A committed team of community leaders, parents, and educators, including Founder, Jane Henzerling worked to launch the school. For the first six years of its existence, Mission Prep was located at the Corpus Christi Campus in the Excelsior neighborhood. In the summer of 2017, our school moved to our current location at 1050 York Street in the Mission. At full capacity, Mission Prep will serve a maximum of 498 students in grades TK-8, and will be supported by a team of 53 dedicated, passionate educators.

The Mission Preparatory School was founded with support from Building Excellent Schools an organization that trains high-capacity individuals to take on the demanding and urgent work of leading high-achieving, college preparatory urban charter schools.
